Workplace reps are lifeline of a fighting union. Having a rep in your workplace means everyone knows their rights. If issues do come up or someone is facing a disciplinary, having a rep means never facing those issues alone.
Not a rep in your workplace? Maybe that person should be you!
The TEFL Workers’ Union wants to make sure that every worker in every language school in the UK has the support they deserve at work. Part of the way we do this is to run regular union representative trainings that are free and open to all union members.
The two-day training covers the basics or employment legislation, your rights (and how to enforce those rights!), health and safety basics, and handling disciplinaries and grievances.
The next training is going to be held in London at the IWW union officer at the May Day Room on Fleet Street on Saturday 25th June and Sunday 26th June, starting at 10am both days. Lunch provided.
If you are travelling from outside London, the union may be able to contribute towards travel and accommodation. Please email for more information.
As always, a reminder that we will never inform your employer of your union membership. The same applies if you become a union rep. We always suggest you build up union membership in your school so when issues do come up, you can all speak in one voice. Getting trained up as a union rep is a great way to help that process along!
