London TEFL meet-up (March 4th)

Joining a union means having support if you ever have a problem at work. But it’s more than that: it’s a community of folks who care about the jobs and care about each other.

Bosses try to play us off each other: competing for hours in the lean times, scrambling to get that coveted guaranteed-hours contract, or blaming other schools for why they can’t give us a proper wage.

But against their drive for profit, we have our solidarity. The boss looks after the bottom line, we look after each other.

With that in mind, we’re arranging a series of 2025 meet-ups for our members and their workmates.

For our members in and around London, we’re pleased to invite you to our first meet-up on March 4th. It’ll be at our office at the May Day Rooms on Fleet Street and we invite you to join us for pizza and drinks – and to bring your workmates with you!

Future meet-up may have a theme, an activity, or a talk. But, for this first one, it’s just a casual get-together. Union reps will be on-hand if you want to talk about any issues at work or to look over your contract. Mostly though, we just want you to bring along your workmates and come with ideas for future social activities.

Teachers and non-teachers are welcome, as are union members and not-yet-union members. As always, though, no manager please!

If you want to join us, please let us know by registering on our Eventbrite page. Please note, however, that Eventbrite limits tickets to 25. So even if it’s sold out, we still want you to come along.

If you live outside London, we’d love to organise a union meet-up in your area, too. Drop us a line at [email protected] and we’ll sort something out!
