Subject line: Justice for Sheela!
Dear Escape [legal/compaints/enquiries] team [or Raffaele Misceo]
I’m writing to express my concern about how Escape treated Sheela, who used to teach there. I understand that she alleges that Escape failed to pay her her proper wages and didn’t honour her contract when she returned from maternity leave – which is discrimination. I would like to hear that Escape is engaging with Sheela’s union representative in good faith to make amends.
Nobody should be punished for having a child.
If Escape doesn’t engage with Sheela there are other actions I can take to support Sheela, including protests. If protests are called, I will be participating and inviting others I know. I’m going to be following what actions you take to make this right.
Sincerely,
[name]
Public interest disclaimer: This action is being undertaken to further the interests of Sheela and the wider Escape English staff. Holding language schools to account contributes to a more law-abiding language teaching industry, thus serving the greater public interest. Failure to pay Sheela for her contracted hours means HMRC lost out on tax revenue; therefore, correcting this will be of benefit to UK taxpayers.
